Lambertville shopping guide

Antiques and vintage in Lambertville

Explore North Union Street’s dealer-filled rooms, then search the tables at the Golden Nugget or time a visit to an auction preview.

Start on North Union Street

Two neighboring antique centers

The People’s Store and A Touch of the Past put many dealers under neighboring roofs. Compare furniture, art, jewelry and smaller finds at a comfortable pace; inventory changes, so bring measurements and ask about condition and delivery before committing to a large piece.

28 North Union Street

The People’s Store

More than 50 dealers fill four floors in a building dating to 1839. The range includes American, European and Asian furniture, porcelain, paintings, jewelry, vintage clothing and books. Allow time to explore the floors rather than judging by the first room.

Hours: Daily 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; check holiday hours.

A Touch of the Past

Next door, this multi-dealer center includes mid-century furniture, estate jewelry and folk art among its offerings. Compare the pieces and ask individual dealers about the objects that catch your eye.

Hours: 10:30 a.m.–5 p.m.; closed Tuesday.

Beyond downtown

The Golden Nugget: tables, shops and changing finds

At 1850 River Road (Route 29), the Golden Nugget Antique Flea Market combines outdoor tables with indoor shops. It is a separate stop from the Union Street shops; driving is the practical choice if you are carrying purchases.

The market lists Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday hours: outdoor tables 6 a.m.–4 p.m. and shops 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Individual vendors and weather can affect what is available. Start here in the morning, then head downtown as the stores open.

Auction calendar

Rago is a preview, not a walk-in antiques mall

Rago’s sales span fine art, design, decorative arts and jewelry. A preview offers a different kind of browsing: examine lots from a particular catalog rather than shopping a dealer’s standing inventory.

Not every sale has an in-person preview, and a Lambertville auction may have a preview in another city. Check the specific sale’s preview dates, location and access before going; some previews are by appointment. Call Rago at 609-397-9374 if the listing is unclear.

Make a shopping day

A half-day downtown or a full market day

Half day · downtown

Compare the Union Street dealers

Begin at the People’s Store and give its four floors a leisurely browse. Continue next door to A Touch of the Past, then pause for lunch or return to a favorite dealer. On Tuesday, when A Touch of the Past is closed, spend the extra time exploring the People’s Store.

Full day · Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday

Market first, downtown after

Start at the Golden Nugget, then drive to North Union Street for lunch and the two multi-dealer stores. If a Rago preview is confirmed for your date, make it an alternative to part of the downtown browse, not a guaranteed extra stop.

Before you buy

A few useful details

Check each operator’s hours before setting out, especially around holidays. Downtown parking rules and time limits vary by space; read the signs and allow time to move your car if needed. Ask shops directly about stairs or accessible entry before visiting.

Photograph measurements of the space you are furnishing, and ask about payment methods, holds, return policies and shipping or pickup before buying. Market dealers may operate independently, so terms can differ from table to table.

For a meal between shops, see our Lambertville restaurants. For the canal, galleries and bridge crossing rather than a shopping itinerary, use the canal and New Hope walking guide. Find parking and arrival options in getting here.
